Is it possible to pay for an eBay auction that someone else has won?
Had my eye on some minis, PayPal only, and I figured I might as well just bite the bullet and I finally signed up. Well, that was Friday, and I still can't get my checking account approved, and there's no way the wife will let me put the CC on there. A guy at work said if it works, he could pay the final from his PayPal and I could pay him. I can't find a decent answer on PP's site, so I was wondering if anyone here has ever done it, and, if so, how it was done.
Thanks.

It would be possible if you do this. ( I beleive)
Contact the seller and let him know what's going on so that they do not think you are a dead beat bidder.
Tell them that you are going to have your friend make the payment for you so that it arrive to them quicker. Ask them for their PP addy and total etc. Then have your friend send a payment through PP and have them include in the note that they are making the payment for you (include the item # etc.) and also include your mailing addy info. I am sure the seller would have no probs with that.
That's my little idea and advice. So lemme know how that works out for ya.
BTW, that advice will be $1 payable through PayPal.

It's even easier than that. You can log into eBay as yourself, and then when it comes time to pay, click on the Paypal link and let HIM log in as pay-paller. He can have it shipped to any of his addresses with no extra work, or to yours by adding an address (which will be "unverified" and some buyers may have prblems with it, but not if you include a note in the payment field). I do this ALL the time for my boss, a great guy with no credit cards.

Whatever you do, let the seller know what's going on so they don't get spooked.

Thanks for the help guys. I think we got it squared up.
I won the items (fought harder than I thought I'd have to), and this morning I logged back in, went to the pay now screen from the invoice under My eBay, and had him enter and verify his PayPal. The seller marked it paid on his end. I didn't go so far as to email him yet, as from all indications it looks like he has his $, but I'll do that now on yinz' advice. Went to the bank at lunch and drew the cash to pay back my bud. Looks good.
Thanks, yinz rock!

The seller isn't marking it "paid"...that's an ebay/paypal function. Your friend should get an email confirmation from paypal on the payment being received by the seller's account.
